Fashion Friday // Gatsby Style

Hello! I have just got back from a day in Leeds shopping with my best friend (there will be a haul to follow), we have had a great day in the lovely sunshine, hope you all have too! This weeks fashion friday post is very much inspired by the film ‘The Great Gatsby’ that is out at the cinema at the moment starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Carey Mulligan. The style is all about the roaring twenties, think glitz and glamour with embellishments pretty much everywhere! It was a time where more was definitely more, bold jewellery and head pieces were a necessity and femininity was at it’s best.

So I have scoured the high street and online stores to bring you everything you would need to reinterpret the ‘Gatsby Style’. Are you into the Gatsby trend? Which item do you think represents that era the best?

Matalan – Pearl and Sparkle Hair Grip – £6

I love hair slides. Especially when celebs curl their hair and pull one bit to the side and have it pinned back with a beautiful grip, it looks so elegant and for £6, you can’t complain!

Matalan – Sparkle Bracelets – £10

These silver bracelets are so easily stackable and would add extra sparkle.

Asos – Hair Band – £15

I’m not really a head piece sort of girl but this is a beauty.

New Look – Pink and Gold Deco Clutch – £19.99

No girl can be without her essentials on a night out and this beaded clutch bag would carry them perfectly.

Next – pearl Drop Necklace – £28

Next – Pearl Drop Earrings – £32

These earrings are stunning. I think with a loose bun and whisps of curls around the face these would be the perfect accessory.

Topshop – Rhinestone Chain Necklace – £60

Miss Selfridge – Pearl Embellished Waist Maxi – £65

Lipsy – Scallop Beaded Dress – £65

Miss Selfridge – Embellished Cut Out Dress – £85

This has to be my favourite dress. It is very similar to a All Saints dress that I have stalked for over a year now waiting for it to drop in price in the sale but even then it was eye wateringly expensive!

River Island – White Bead Fringe Dress – £150

Wowzers.. £150 thats a lot of money to spend on one dress but if you are looking for something a bit extra special then this would be the Gatsby dress to make an impression in!

All Saints – Viper Dress – £298

This dress is incredibly expensive for a student budget but I guess you get what you pay for. The detail that has gone into it can’t be denied and would be perfect for a special occasion.
